China Blue x Moroccan Prints

I have a bit of a fetish for Moroccan prints. Those tiles look equally good in a Moroccan bath house as they do on a kitchen splash back. Don’t get me started on Moroccan tapestry: the patterns, the colours; its the perfect example of order meets disorder and you know how much I adore my juxtaposition.

Naturally, I had to eventually acquire some kind of Moroccan top. I’ve been digging this kind of cut particularly – the high neckline, the flowy hem and the thin straps; it would have been such a shame to hide it so I pulled my hair back nice and sleek into a low pony. For pretty much my whole life, I have always thought low ponies were on the same level as sweaty bangs, Hawaiian beaded braids and crimped hair but I’ve recently decided that I like them for their simplicity and hey-im-in-control-here message.

This top is actually quite difficult to style because of its high low hem and impossible to miss print. Actually if it wasn’t so hot, pants would work quite well but I needed something that’s heat appropriate so I snuck on a pair of loose shorts in a bright cobalt blue and prayed the final look wouldn’t be too unforgiving. I also threw on my layered coin necklace which I love because its something that I didn’t think I would like initially but I adore it now because its a statement without the shiny and the bling. Then to give my outfit some body, I cross bodied a little black bag – something I would have never done before but now I do because a) it gives your hands freedom and b) I don’t think I look like a tourist doing it anymore.

A lot of newly embraced things in this post, I’ll say! I think it’s always important to continually try new things and since the new year is just over a week away, its time to start doing! Start with the little things and try, try and try again. I didn’t like avocado for ages but I kept forcing myself to try it once in a while and now I put it in everything including my smoothies. Try it sometime – your blend becomes a thousand times smoother and theres no strange flavour at all. I like a good banana, coco powder, milk and avocado smoothie for breakfast!

  1. I always wanted a top like this but never really figured out how to wear it or how to match it with the rest of my wardrobe. The pattern is absolutely gorgeous and the cut defines your shoulders really well. I understand the difficulty with high low hems and I tend to tuck them away into me shorts so I wouldn’t have to worry about it.

  2. Your bag reminds me so much of the Mini Pashli by 3.1 Phillip Lim and I love your coin necklace 🙂 I’ve also decided to try blogging again after many, many years of hiatus. Feel free to check out my new blog 🙂 I’ve missed you and WP lots!
