(Teal)quila Mockingbird

tealquila29

Tequila Mockingbird is an actual drink, I discovered it a few years ago when I was passing by the cocktail section of a bookstore and I looked at the title and thought how punny. Today we’re not talking about alcohol but er maybe we should because of the questionable hyper poses seen in this post. Instead¬†we’re talking about my favourite colour: robin egg’s blue. It’s basically a more washed out version of teal, hence my clever double pun title hur hur. ūüôā

If this was a traditional New England preppy sailing look, you would probably go for a navy dress, a cable knit sweater stolen from your hunk and some boat shoes. I modernised the whole thing with some lace up ballerinas and a pastel frock but made sure to add a statement with everybody’s favourite preppy summer fabric: seersucker! You can see how I styled this blazer with matching shorts in ‘A Style Tale of 2 Cities. These pictures were taken at different places and as Sarah Donaldson said, “never trust a blogger’s geotags.” The cute little palm tree coffees and striped umbrellas are from Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel where everything is teal even the toilets which give that whole under the sea vibe which is very cool. We actually went first thing in the morning when it was relatively empty but then we went again at 4 for iced coffees and the place was super packed so I don’t recommend Sunday arvos for coffee and chill there. Netflix and chill more like it am I right?

Recreate the look with this Brooks Brother blazer, Dotti dress, Lipstik flats and Essie polish

Study The Classics

A while ago, I read somewhere that blogging gives a person a different perspective on things. Everything suddenly has potential to be a flatlay background, to be a prop, to naturally divide your photos into beautiful thirds. Your wardrobe becomes ‘shoppable’ again. I bought this sweater from a Las Vegas outlet back in oh nine. It was a favourite during my Massie Block phase with a plaid skirt but then disappeared for years when I thought sweaters, leggings, CR bags and UGGs were the uniform for non uniform days. Shudder. It makes¬†a return in twenty fifteen with this Alexa Chung inspired coat, joggers and a BIG scarf. Maybe I’ll shudder again in six years at the idea of skinny jeans with trainers but for now I dig it so much.

Monsters Just Trees

I forget how picturesque Hyde Park is sans tourists. Must be why there is always at least one bride and groom getting their pose on. There’s so much green right now but I’ll definitely go back in the spring to see everything in bloom. I wore these jeans for some Sunday Funday shenanigans with the family squad. (HAHAHA you know you’re a social butterfly when you refer to your family as your squad). They are so comfy and I finally see the deal with boyfriend jeans. I hear girlfriend jeans are also a thing now? I’ll probably get on to them in another five years time.

Band-aids don’t fix bullet holes

Or in my case, slashed knee¬†jeans. No bad blood here just a really great ribbed sweater from Trendsgal and a serious side part to hide that 3rd day hair.¬†I used to hate these types of coats because the ones in my wardrobe were all varying shades of pink and I really didn’t need to look like a giant marshmallow when my cheeks were already so red from the cold. Now, I found myself reaching for this jacket more times than I care to admit.

Coming Up Rosy Gold

cominguprosygold copy

Anything copper or rose gold I am down. Particularly love it when its paired with maroon, pink or navy. What I like most of all about this bomber is the little pocket by the arm. I’ve never been one for magic tricks but when I whip out my opal card in two seconds and slam it on that rainbow circle triumphantly, I chuckle to myself a bit whilst all the¬†plebeians have to go through the process of taking out their wallet from their bag, behind, etc. and flipping through their cards in slow motion.

Blaze of Glory

I am really uncool. Like watch The Big Bang Theory on Friday nights (GUYS SHAMY!), crack dad jokes and prone to flushing from any kind of alcohol consumption kind of uncool. But these shades make me feel hella cool and when I leave my house I imagine I’m off to my warehouse converted to office sharespace where I lounge around in curvy chairs and think of fresh ideas to make the world more yeezus. In reality, I’m just off for the daily commute where I spend 40 minutes reading about influential people in The Collective and Times¬†but let me do me, kay?
